Bill Spadea Visits Howell Day

“If you stick around,” said the Independent candidate for Howell Council, Betty Velez-Gimbel, “somebody big is going to show up in support of farmers and in support of my run.”

Bill Spadea, conservative New Jersey talk show host whose show is run on 101.5 FM, visited Howell Day this Saturday, September 24th. Wearing a black suit and business casual sneakers, Bill stood out amongst the crowd, walking around the Howell event to endorse both Republican mayoral candidate John Leggio and Betty Velez-Gimbel.

“Were here to meet the great folks in Howell,” boasted Bill, who's running for governor in 2025, “and I’m helping my good friend John Leggio, he’s running for mayor. He’s a great guy, he understands that the way to bring a town and make it strong is you gotta be of the people, you got to stand up for all the local farms, all the local businesses. So it was a great opportunity to be here just to support small businesses and the farms in this great town.”

Spadea’s ‘Common Sense’ pact, that “exists to save New Jersey from Left Wing Lunacy,” rides at the front of his campaign for governor. He is a consistent advocate for local politics and the moving away from the ‘political corruption’ in New Jersey that is financially chasing residents out of the state. Leggio, who was seen walking around greeting residents next to Spadea at the event, agrees with his sentiments.

“I listen to him all the time on the radio. I think he has some pretty good ideas. Bringing back common sense politics if that’s possible. I don't know if it’s possible in the state of New Jersey. It seems like both sides have an agenda,” Leggio speculated. He then linked it to his own campaign, relating, “If I become mayor of Howell…I want to focus on the issues that are most important to our community and pushing those issues forward. Getting solutions for those issues…common sense solutions for common sense problems.”

This moment was a special one for Leggio as a small-town mayoral candidate. He welcomed Spadea’s visit with generosity, expressing, “For him to come here and support us in Howell Township like that yesterday, to come meet me…it’s a really humbling experience for me. You know, because I’m just a regular Joe from Howell Township, Ramtown section.”

Spadea also proudly endorsed Howell’s Independent candidate for Council, Betty Velez-Gimbel, who spearheaded the recent effort that led to the denial of a Victory Road warehouse application. Velez responded to this endorsement positively, acclaiming, “I truly appreciate Bill Spadea’s support and advocacy for family farms in New Jersey… and I was so happy to call into his show to announce and celebrate with him the morning after the proposed warehouse application on Victory Road was denied by the Planning Board. I appreciate the time he took to come to Howell Day to meet with the members of Howell Farmers United and our residents. We share a vision of grassroots candidates and common sense solutions in local government.”

Universally, Spadea’s trip to Howell Day was met with a joyful surprise. He visited booths, took a group photo with Howell’s The Salon Professional Academy, and spoke face-to-face with any resident that wanted to connect with him. Residents followed him around to pay him compliments, share their experience with listening to his radio show, and announce to him their support in his gubernatorial campaign. It was a refreshing and exciting spectacle to watch.
